Sierra Southerland
A graduate of Colorado State University, Sierra holds a Bachelor of Science in Equine Sciences with a minor in Business Administration, as well as a Master of Science in Animal Sciences specializing in Breeding and Genetics. Throughout her academic career, she was actively involved in the CSU Ag Council, Rodeo Team, Ranch Horse Team, and the Legends of Ranching Colt Starting Program, which deepened her appreciation for Colorado’s agricultural heritage.
Sierra’s dedication to rodeo began at a young age, competing in events such as gymkhana, team sorting, and barrel racing, while also holding Rodeo Queen titles. Now, she enjoys training her personal barrel horses and exploring team roping and breakaway roping.
As Miss Rodeo Colorado 2025, Sierra is committed to using her platform to promote responsible breeding practices through her initiative “Clean Genes.” Her mission is to raise awareness about genetic issues in rodeo livestock and ensure the health and longevity of the animals central to the sport. Sierra is passionate about preserving the traditions of rodeo, while inspiring change and fostering community pride for future generations.
